Lira City West MP Vincent Shedrick Obong Eyit Pledges to Buy Two New Ambulances in Boost to Community Health
By Okidi Patrick
LIRA CITY WEST, UGANDA – December 9, 2025: In a bold commitment to improve healthcare access in Lira City West Division, the sitting Member of Parliament, Hon. Vincent Shedrick Obong Eyit, has announced plans to purchase two brand-new ambulances for the constituency—adding to one he previously acquired.
Speaking during a public rally at Anai Airfield, MP Obong Eyit addressed growing concerns from constituents who claimed he had not delivered sufficient results since joining Parliament. “Some people are saying I went to Parliament and didn’t contribute,” he stated. “But let me remind this community: I bought an ambulance already, and I promise you two more brand-new ones before the end of this year.”

The MP emphasized that his work has always centered on the common citizen, citing his consistent efforts to advocate for transformational development in the area. He highlighted one of his key struggles—the ongoing land conflict involving the National Forestry Authority (NFA) forest reserve in Anai—saying he had personally written to His Excellency the President seeking intervention.
“Land issues in Anai are real. People are being displaced from the real demarcation of their iriInal land. I have raised my voice and submitted formal letters to H.E the President,” Obong Eyit affirmed. “I will continue to fight for justice for our people.”

The MP also called for unity and support as he campaigns for re-election to the 12th Parliament, urging voters to back him based on his track record rather than political rhetoric. Ranked 134th out of over 500 Members of Parliament in performance, he said the ranking was commendable because he is an active member in Commettee and even in plenary sitting, but what truly mattered was tangible impact on the ground.
Among his other key concerns, MP Obong Eyit pointed to the densely and overcrowding in the PDM program in whereby in areas like Amuca, Omito, and Anai Ward, there should have been more money than other parishes with Les population size. “These wards are too large, and the current PDM disbursement does not reflect the needs on the ground,” he said. “We need fairness and equity.”
Infrastructure development remains a top priority, he added revealing that he had formally petitioned the President for the rehabilitation of the Odokomit–Lira University road, a critical link for students, lecturers, and local residents. In the meantime, he personally financed the rehabilitation of several roads in his constituency of Lira City West Division.
“According to public records, I am the only MP in Uganda who has used personal funds to rehabilitate roads,” he declared, calling on fellow leaders to prioritize public service over political posturing.
On education, Obong Eyit highlighted his support for over 100 underprivileged students enrolled in Light Vocational Schools. He also wrote to the President requesting an increase in admissions at the Presidential Skilling Hub in Lira City—from the current intake to at least 200 students—to empower more youth with technical skills. He quoted from the Bible, Isaiah 60:22: “When the time comes, I the Lord will make it happen.”

“I believe in empowering our youth,” he said. “Skills save lives. Education breaks the cycle of poverty.” On government-owned facilities he cautioned against political grandstanding. “Anything that belongs to government—such as health facilities—should not be boasted about by some individuals in Lira City here. Our role as leaders is to support, supplement, and advocate, not take credit when it is government program.”
As 2026 general elections approaches, Hon. Vincent Shedrick Obong Eyit is banking on his record of service to win another term, promising that if re-elected, the delivery of the two new ambulances will be among his first action.
“I serve not for praise, but for impact,” he concluded. “Let us build a healthier, stronger, and more united and educated Lira City West Division—together.”
