CDF GEN. MUHOOZI APPOINTS NEW ARMOURED DIVISION COMMANDER.

Kampala, Uganda – February 12, 2026: The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations (SPA/SO), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Brigadier General Jackson Pande Kajuba as the new commander of the UPDF Armoured Division in Masaka.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, comes as a result of the untimely passing of Major General Deus Sande, the previous commander, who succumbed to severe breathing complications yesterday. Major General Sande’s demise has been met with sadness within the UPDF fraternity, with many paying tribute to his service and dedication.
Brigadier General Pande Kajuba, who had been serving as the Deputy Commander of the UPDF Armoured Division under Major General Sande, takes over the reins of the division, bringing with him a wealth of experience and knowledge. To fill the vacant Deputy Commander position, Colonel Wilson Bagonza Rwakanara from the Special Forces Command (SFC) has been promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and appointed to the role.
The UPDF has congratulated the newly appointed General officers on their promotions and wished them success in their new roles. “We congratulate the General officers on the new appointments and wish them good luck in the execution of their duties,” said Colonel Chris Magezi, Acting Director Defence Public Information, MODVA/UPDF.
The appointments are seen as a significant boost to the UPDF’s Armoured Division, which plays a critical role in the country’s defence and security. As the UPDF continues to evolve and adapt to emerging security challenges, the leadership changes are expected to bring new energy and perspectives to the division.
The UPDF fraternity has welcomed the appointments, expressing confidence in the abilities of Brigadier General Pande Kajuba and Brigadier General Rwakanara to lead the Armoured Division to greater heights.
