RDC Akech Babra Rallies Dokolo to Embrace National Cleaning Day for a Healthy District.

DOKOLO – The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Dokolo, Ms Akech Babra, has called upon residents, institutions and leaders across the district to take personal responsibility for a cleaner and healthier environment ahead of the National Cleaning Day slated for Saturday, September 26, 2026.
The nationwide exercise, running under the theme, “A Clean Uganda, A Healthy Uganda,” will be observed across Dokolo District from 7:00 am to 10:00 am.
In her message to the people of Dokolo district, while adressing the media on Thursday evening, RDC Akech emphasized that cleanliness is directly linked to public health, productivity and development.
“Let us all take responsibility for our environment. A clean home, a clean workplace, a clean school and a clean community keeps us healthy, boosts productivity and builds a better Dokolo and a stronger Uganda,” Babra said.

She added: “Together we can make our environment clean and green!”
According to the RDC, the exercise will cover homes, markets, schools, health facilities, trading centres and public spaces, with residents expected to participate in sweeping, collecting garbage, desilting drainage channels and planting trees.
She said Dokolo District leadership has already mobilized lower local governments, cultural and religious leaders, security teams and youth groups to ensure full participation.
Meanwhile she noted that the campaign dubbed “Keep Dokolo Clean!” is not a one-day event but a mindset change that should be sustained beyond September 26.
The RDC further urged residents to adopt environmentally friendly practices, including putting waste in bins, avoiding plastic litter, planting and protecting trees, and working together as a community.
“Clean together, live better. This is for God and my country,” RDC Akech said, reaffirming her commitment to ensuring Dokolo remains a model district in sanitation and environmental protection.
The National Cleaning Day is a government initiative held on the last Saturday of every month to promote hygiene, disease prevention and environmental conservation.
