Maruzi North County MP Bernard Otim Odoc Calls for Better Pay for Parish Chiefs.

KAMPALA – On the floor of Parliament today, September 29, the MP for Maruzi North, Hon. Bernard Otim, called for improved salaries for parish chiefs, noting that they play a critical role in implementing government programmes that involve significant public funds.
Hon. Otim argued that enhancing the remuneration of parish chiefs could help reduce corruption by improving their welfare and strengthening accountability in the implementation of government programmes.
In his remarks following the presentation, the Speaker praised Hon. Otim as an assertive leader who consistently makes thoughtful and brilliant contributions on the floor of Parliament.
The Speaker also recalled travelling with Hon. Bernard Otim to Malawi, where they represented Uganda at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), citing the experience as an example of Hon. Otim’s active participation in parliamentary engagements beyond Uganda.
