Oyam – Queen Dorothy Amolo the former aspirant for Oyam South County, has vowed to take her election battle to the Court of Appeal, insisting she will not accept the High Court judgment that upheld the victory of Hon Ogwang Patrick Obura as MP for Oyam County South.
In a video she posted on 5th November 2026, Amolo said she is 100 percent going for another round of the petition to the Court of Appeal for a fair hearing and decree.
“I am going to file an appeal with the Court of Appeal. I am 100 percent going for another round of the petition for fair hearing and decree/ judgement,” Amolo said in the video.
Amolo, who contested as an Independent with the Clock symbol, finished third with 3,516 votes against Obura’s 29,353 votes in the January 15 parliamentary election.
She had petitioned the High Court to nullify Obura’s election, arguing that her nominated name, Queen Dorothy Amolo, was unlawfully left off the ballot and replaced with Queen Dorothy Alweny.
Justice Fatuma Nanziri Bwanika agreed that the Electoral Commission made an error by printing Alweny instead of Amolo, but ruled that the votes were still for Amolo because the ballot carried her photograph and Clock symbol.
The judge dismissed the petition and upheld Obura’s election, ruling that the irregularity did not affect the result in a substantial manner.
Amolo, however, says she is not satisfied with the decree and will now seek justice at the court of Appeal.
Her decision sets the stage for a fresh legal battle over Oyam County South, months after the election was concluded.
Patrick Ogwang Obura did not answer our repeated phone calls by the time of compiling this article for his side of the story.
