Man Found Stabbed to Death in Dokolo District; Police Hunt Fugitive Suspect.

DOKOLO, UGANDA– December 29, 2025 — Territorial Police in Dokolo District confirmed a murder investigation following the fatal stabbing of Okello Robert, a 47-year-old builder, on the night of December 28, 2025. The incident has sparked a manhunt for the suspect, whose alleged motive is linked to a jealousy-fueled dispute.
According to police PRO North Kyoga Region SP Jimmy Patrick Okema , the body of Mr. Okello was discovered at approximately 6:00 AM in Adagani Village, Iguli Parish, Amwoma Sub-County. Police were alerted after locals found him lying near a footpath close to burning charcoal behind a resident’s home. Preliminary reports indicated that Mr. Okello had left his residence in Awat Village, Iguli Parish, on December 27, 2025, at 8:00 PM and had not returned.
Meanwhile the initial investigations point to an altercation involving Okwir Tonny, a 34-year-old resident of Aringo Ading Village, Alenga Parish, Dokolo Sub-County. Mr. Okwir is suspected of pursuing Mr. Okello after learning of an alleged intimate relationship between the victim and his wife. A physical confrontation reportedly ensued, culminating in Mr. Okello being stabbed in the back with a sharp object.
“The deceased was found at the suspect’s residence on the night of the incident, and the suspect is now a person of interest in this tragic case,” stated the police report. “The suspect fled the area and remains at large.”
Police officers have conducted a crime scene examination, collected witness statements, and transported the body to Dokolo HC IV for a postmortem to determine the exact cause and circumstances of the death. Authorities have intensified efforts to locate Mr. Okwir, urging the public to assist in the search.
Call for Public Cooperation
In a statement issued by Police Spokesperson JP Okema, the public was advised to remain calm while cooperating with investigators. “Any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect will be gratefully received,” Mr. Okema emphasized.
Residents in the area have expressed concern amid the ongoing manhunt, with some calling for enhanced security in the region. However, no direct community statements were included in the official press release.
