Lira District/ City NRM Flag-Bearers Ready to Welcome President Museveni for Manifesto Rally at Golf Course.

LIRA, UGANDA – January 8, 2026: A massive political rally is set to take center stage in Northern Uganda as President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to campaign and address a political public gathering as the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) Presidential flag bearer 2026–2031 and where he will talk about his manifesto in Lira City on Thursday, January 8, 2026. The high-profile rally will be held at the Lira City Golf Course and promises to be a defining moment in the party’s campaign ahead of the 2026 general elections.

The three NRM parliamentary flag-bearers representing Lira District—Hon. Linda Agnes Auma (Woman Member of Parliament), Hon. Ongom Patrick (Erute North), and Hon. Sam Engola (Erute South)—have officially confirmed their readiness to host President Museveni, who also serves as the party’s National Chairman and presidential flag-bearer.
“This is a historic moment for Lira and the entire Lango sub-region,” said Hon. Linda Agnes Auma. “President Museveni’s visit is a clear testament to the NRM’s unwavering commitment to listen to the people of Lira, address their concerns, and share our bold vision for the next five years.”

The rally, expected to draw thousands of supporters, party cadres, and members of other political supporters, will serve as the official platform for President Museveni to unveil key manifesto and development priorities tailored for Lira City, Lira District, and the broader Ugandan population.
Hon. Ongom Patrick praised the President’s long-standing leadership, citing infrastructure development, education reforms, and agricultural modernization as major achievements in the region. “Under President Museveni’s leadership, we’ve seen transformational projects—from tarmac roads to improved healthcare and expanded electricity access. This manifesto will build on that progress and take Lira even further,” he said.
Lira, is believed to be voting overwhelmingly for NRM party on the 15th January 2026, in the upcoming general elections.

In a joint statement, the three flag-bearers emphasized the inclusive nature of the event, calling on all residents—regardless of age, gender, or background—to participate in what they described as a “people-centered” political dialogue.
“This is not just a campaign event—it’s an opportunity for the people of Lira city and Lira district to engage directly with the President, ask questions, and contribute to shaping the future of our district,” said Hon. Sam Engola. “We foresee a vibrant, peaceful, and inclusive gathering at Lira Golf Course.”
Authorities have deployed security personnel to ensure public safety during the event, while logistical preparations, including sound systems, seating, and medical stations, are already underway.
With banners going up and excitement building across the city, Lira is preparing to host one of the largest political gatherings in northern Uganda this election season. All roads will leadto Lira Golf Course on Thursday as President Museveni lays out his vision of wealth creation under the NRM’s 2026–2031 agenda.

Keith Katungyi, minister Dr.Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero Woman MP Lira City, RDC Lillian Eyal, Dr.Pattick Olet, Langol Prossy of ONC, Ocol Johnson among others were seen around Lira City on Wednesday evening busy moblizing for early preparation as per the event.
