RDC Okiswa Geoffrey expressed deep sorrow over the incident, stating:
“This is a heartbreaking loss for our district. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the departed and pray for swift recovery of the injured. We also reiterate the need for responsible driving, especially on our rural roads, which are often poorly maintained and prone to accidents.”
A Growing Concern Over Road Safety:
This tragic incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in northern Uganda, due to overloading, poor vehicle maintenance, and reckless driving which remain rampant. The Resident District commissioner is now calling for intensified traffic campaigns and stricter enforcement of road regulations ahead of the upcoming rainy season, when many roads become slippery and treacherous.
As investigations continue, the community of Alebtong stands united in grief, honoring the memories of Ogwang Robert and Ogwal Richard—two lives cut short in a preventable tragedy.
