The joyous announcement was made on Friday, January 30, 2026, when the school’s Director, Mr. Okello Denis, joined teachers, pupils, parents, and community members in a vibrant celebration held within the school compound. The event was marked by music, cheers, and a sense of pride as the school lifted the PLE results to the skies—literally and figuratively.
All 56 candidates who sat for the 2025 PLE from Day Light Nursery and Primary School achieved Division One, making it the best-performing school in the Lango sub-region. Among the best performers were; Okwir Micheal Ceaser and Okwada Jesse scored an impressive aggregate of 4—the highest attainable—placing them at the pinnacle of academic excellence. The remaining candidates scored aggregates between 5 and 12, all comfortably within the top division.

The parent of top-scorer Okwada Jesse, Mr. Orua Daniel, expressed deep gratitude to the school’s teaching staff. “This success is not accidental. It is the result of hard work, dedication, and committed teachers. I applaud Day Light School for shaping our children with excellence,” he said.

Headteacher Mr. Angol Santos, reflecting on the milestone, quoted the legendary poet George Bernard Shaw: “The great pleasure in life is doing what people say you cannot do.” He described the achievement as a fulfillment of the school’s mission to deliver quality, transformative education.
“I am proud of our learners, our teachers, and our supportive parents. Together, we have proven that with the right attitude and teamwork, excellence is not just possible—it is achievable,” said Mr. Santos.
Director Okello Denis, addressing journalists in the evening after the celebrations, revealed that the school currently has a total enrollment of 1,200 pupils across nursery and primary levels. He urged parents and guardians in Lira City and beyond to consider Day Light Nursery and Primary School for their children’s holistic and academic development as term one open on 10th February 2026.
“This is not just about results. It’s about nurturing young minds, building confidence, and preparing children for a brighter future. We welcome more learners to join our winning family,” said Okello.
While Day Light Primary takes the spotlight, other schools in the region also recorded impressive results, including St. Gracious Nursey and primary school Barapwo Boarding Section and Adyel Primary School, which contributed significantly to Lira city ’s better academic performance in the 2025 PLE.
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) released the PLE results on January 29, 2026, sparking celebrations in schools across the country. However, few moments matched the jubilation witnessed at Day Light Nursery and Primary School—a shining beacon of hope and excellence in Uganda’s educational landscape.
As the nation celebrates this achievement, educators and policymakers are pointing to Day Light School as a model for others to emulate—proof that commitment, leadership, and community involvement can transform academic outcomes in academic setting.
