Lira, Uganda – February 1, 2026: Celebrations erupted at St. Gracious Schools in Lira City following the release of the 2025 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on Friday, January 30, 2026. The school has once again distinguished itself with a stellar academic performance, marking a new milestone in its pursuit of educational excellence.
At the St. Gracious Barapwo Boarding Campus, 50 candidates sat for the national exam, with an overwhelming 49 achieving Division One—the highest possible result. Only one learner was placed in Division Two, showcasing the school’s exceptional teaching standards and effective learning environment. Among the top performers were Okello Morgan and Otim Joseph Amos, both of whom secured a remarkable aggregate score of 5, the best possible result in the PLE.

“The results reflect our unwavering commitment to quality education, hardworking learners, and dedicated teachers,” said Hon. Elem Leo, the school’s Principal, in an interview. “We are extremely proud of our students, parents, and staff for this outstanding achievement.”
The performance at the boarding campus has placed St. Gracious Boarding ahead of other top-performing institutions in the sub-region, including St. Kizito Primary School, which recorded a decline in 2025 PLE performance compared to recent years.
At the St. Gracious Nursery and Primary School (Day Campus), the results were equally impressive. Out of 90 candidates, 57 attained Division One, while 33 recorded Division Two. The best performer at the day campus was Acen Gloria, who also achieved an aggregate score of 5, earning her a place among the nation’s top scholars.
Despite these achievements, Principal Elem Leo pointed out a national concern—the decline in performance in Social Studies across Uganda. He noted that while St. Gracious had managed to maintain high standards, the national trend is a call to action for all educators.
“As we celebrate these successes, we also recognize the challenges in certain subjects like Social Studies,” Elem said. “For the 2026 academic year, our teachers are being equipped with new strategies to engage learners more effectively, ensuring that we not only maintain but surpass this year’s performance.”
The school administration has planned a special recognition ceremony for the top performers and a thanksgiving event for parents, staff, and partners who have contributed to the school’s academic success.
St. Gracious Schools’ remarkable results in the 2025 PLE have once again affirmed its status as a leading academic institution in Northern Uganda, inspiring both learners and educators across the region.
