Alebtong District is reporting improved coordination in public service delivery as government programmes under President Yoweri Museveni continue to expand across education, health, agro-industrialisation and wealth creation initiatives.
Deputy Resident District Commissioner Mathias Lutwama said the district is increasingly focusing on implementation efficiency at local level to ensure that national programmes translate into tangible community outcomes.
He noted that improvements are being observed across key sectors, with emphasis now placed on strengthening systems that support delivery rather than only expanding infrastructure and funding.
In agro-industrialisation, the Sh1 billion oil seed processing facility in Apala Sub-county is already supporting sunflower farmers through value addition, with authorities highlighting the need for stronger coordination among producers to maximize output.
In education, Lutwama pointed to the Sh3.3 billion annual capitation support benefiting 76 government-aided primary schools, saying the funding has stabilized school operations and improved access to learning in rural communities.
On wealth creation, the Parish Development Model continues to support grassroots economic activity, with over 8,000 women and 5,600 youths engaged in agriculture and livestock enterprises benefiting from revolving funds since its rollout.
The health sector has also registered steady improvements, with 15 government health facilities upgraded to enhance service delivery across preventive and curative care.
Local leaders say the current focus is on strengthening monitoring, coordination and accountability across Alebtong’s 725 villages to ensure consistent and effective delivery of government programmes.
