New 256 AI platform to be launched in late July, 2026 with free govt portals, farmer marketplace and cybersecurity shield.

LIRA CITY, UGANDA–Former Oyam North MP aspirant Queen Dorothy Amolo on Monday, 13th July 2026 unveiled “256 AI”, Uganda’s first homegrown Artificial Intelligence platform designed to digitize the economy, create jobs, and connect rural producers to global markets.
While addressing members of the press on Monday 13th, July, 2026 at Pauline Hotel in Lira City, Amolo announced the platform will be officially launched in late July 2026 emphasising her expression while taking Uganda to the digital world”,
Amolo said the core mission of 256 AI is to empower the ordinary Ugandan and bridge the digital gap.
“Our main objective is to create jobs and expose the local person on the ground to digital marketing of their commodities. We are not only doing this in Uganda. We are actually marketing this in America,” Amolo said.
She added that 256 AI will act as a “national mole in the villages” where a farmer with 10 sacks of simsim can sell directly to buyers online in minutes.
What 256 AI will deliver
The platform, built under 256 Apps, comes with several flagship tools:
- Government Digitalization – Free: 256 AI will build websites and digital platforms for all government ministries for free. Government will only pay for maintenance. Amolo said this will cut bureaucracy and “get rid of corruption by handling everything through a corporate platform.”
- 256 Link Shield – Free: A cybersecurity tool at 256.co.ug to protect Ugandans from data theft. “People are stealing your information simply because we are not shielded,” she said.
- 256 Express: A location-based service for emergencies, restaurants, law firms, dentists and other quick services.
- Digital Marketplace: Direct link between farmers and buyers, traders and consumers across Uganda and abroad.
- 256 Layer VIP: A verification and AI assistant for politicians, celebrities and VIPs. It will be free until 29th July.
- Multilingual Access: The AI will be translated into 6 local languages including Acholi, Lango and Luganda among others to ensure no Ugandan is left behind.
So far, the team has built 100 websites ahead of the launch. The platform will also generate legal contracts for download within a day.
A boost for the digital economy
Amolo’s husband, who also spoke at the launch, described 256 as “the new digital system for the economy of the world because everything can reach out to the world in a few minutes.”
Other targets for 256 AI include marketing grants and scholarships, and connecting churches abroad to Africa.
“We build any single platform. We are there to serve Uganda first,” Amolo said and employing ten people per district jn Lango sub-region here.
