KOBOKO — The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Koboko, Mr Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, has officially launched the Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) exercise for Koboko District.
The launch was held at the Koboko Municipality offices and at the residence of the District Chairperson, Mr Mambu Asirafu, in Koboko Municipality.

Mr Hashaka, who is also the Chairperson of the IRS Task Force in Koboko, said malaria remains the number one killer disease in the country, with 16 people dying daily due to malaria caused by mosquitoes.
He warned that whoever frustrates the spraying exercise against mosquitoes is an enemy of the people and should be arrested and prosecuted.
The District Chairperson, Mr Mambu Asirafu, thanked the government for continuing to save the lives of Ugandans through the IRS programme. He pledged his political will and promised to monitor the exercise.
To demonstrate that the chemicals used are safe, Mr Hashaka led a team of indoor residual sprayers to spray the official residence of the District Chairperson.
The RDC disclosed that the government has already released Shs444,520,571 for the 21-day IRS exercise in Koboko, together with all the required chemicals and equipment.
He called for transparency and proper accountability of all funds received.
All the 433 villages in the district are being targeted in the exercise.
