ALEBTONG , UGANDA – The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) of Alebtong, Mr Mathias Lutwama, has commended health workers in the district’s 14 ART centres for their dedicated service in administering antiretroviral treatment.
In his strategic guidance issued on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, commissioner Lutwama outlined a six-month execution plan to combat HIV/Aids in the district.
“To effectively manage the 7,635 citizens in Alebtong who are on ARVs, we shall be moving door-to-door, especially in vulnerable areas, mainly Greater Apala, Greater Amugu and Alebtong Town council, to demystify the social stigma that prevents many infected but untested people from embracing treatment,” he said.
He added that the district will adhere to results-based data management using the parish model, with special focus on pregnant mothers, as a way of preventing mother-to-child transmission.

“We shall continue to disseminate, without complacency, at health centres and social gatherings, the message by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on abstinence, being faithful, condom use and responsible living,” Lutwama said.
“I Mathias Lutwama Deputy Resident District Commissioner Alebtong, has also launched the new season RBF model strategy for health workers in combating HIV/AIDs in Alebtong,” He said.
The Deputy RDC said the interventions will form part of the district’s strategic health execution plan for the next six months.
