Lira City West – City Gate Mixed Farm located in Amuca ward, Lira City West Division in Lira city, is redefining farming in Lango Sub-Region/ Northern Uganda and beyond by proving that small plots can generate daily income.
Owned by a popular wealth creator and community builder Mr Pius Olam, the farm is a model of integrated agriculture based on the four-acre model initiative.
The farm currently hosts 25,000 layers, 10,000 dual-purpose chickens, Friesian dairy cows and calves, elite coffee, matooke, pasture, organic manure and adapted goat breeds including Boer and Savannah. Olam also runs a free-range ranch in Apac with nearly 200 cattle.

However, beyond livestock production, Mr Pius Olam’s farm features a thriving demonstration plot of ‘Elite’ clonal coffee, hence the cash crop can flourish in Lango / Northern Uganda’s changing climate while generating additional seasonal income and financial progress.
With daily earnings from eggs, milk, manure and crops, Pius said agriculture should be treated as a serious cash business, not just for subsistence aspect only.
Mr Olam was inspired by Kawumu Presidential Farm in Nakaseke District and passion for animals and agriculture, he then developed an idea to open up a demonstration farm back at home, which decision gave birth to City Gates Demonstration Farm in Amucha Ward, in Lira City. However for easy accessibiliity, City Gate is open to youth and farmers who want to learn how limited land can create sustainable wealth.
He is a re-known PLU mobliser and a strong supporter of Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba in Lira City.
