Five Summoned Over Alleged Fraudulent Transfer of 644 Acres in Kalangala

MASAKA – Police in Masaka have summoned two directors and three lawyers of Sese Oil Palm Growers Cooperative Society Ltd over alleged fraud and fraudulent transfer of 644 acres of land in Kalangala District.
Those summoned are Mr. Barilonda David Mukasa of Bugala, Kalangala District, Mr. Cancoo Diamond of Bugala, Kalangala District, Mr. Twikirize Timothy of Twikirize and Co. Advocates, Buganda Road, Nakasero, Kampala, Mr. Mulumbi Derrick of Mulumbi and Co. Advocates, a resident of Entebbe, Wakiso District, and Mr. Kalinaki Jonathan of Mulumbi and Co. Advocates, Kampala.
The five are accused by the family of the late Bruno Nicholas Serunkuma, represented by Mr. Nganda Andrew Bugingo.
The land in question is located on Block 73, Plot 2, Buyinja Island, Ssese, Kalangala District.
The five have been summoned by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) at Masaka Central Police Station on Tuesday next week to record statements regarding alleged fraud and forgery.
They are accused of fraudulently transferring the 644 acres without the consent of the land owners.
The orphans of the late Bruno Nicholas Serunkuma want the alleged fraudsters investigated and prosecuted, and the transfer declared null and void in accordance with the Succession Act, Cap 162, because they were not consulted before the transfer.
