Police Officer Arrested for Embezzling Emyooga Funds in Koboko.

KOBOKO – Police in Koboko have arrested a police officer for allegedly embezzling over two million shillings meant for an Emyooga SACCO group in Koboko District.
Police Constable Ochwo Joseph is accused of embezzling Shs2,620,000 which he had recovered from defaulters of Koboko Municipal Council Mechanics SACCO.
The arrest of PC Ochwo came as a result of orders from the RDC’s office after receiving complaints from members of Koboko Municipal Mechanics Emyooga SACCO about the embezzlement.
Police Constable Ochwo Joseph is currently being held in cells at Koboko Central Police Station.
His arrest is part of the ongoing operation code-named “Kisanja Hakuna Kulala” launched this week by RDC Koboko, Mr. Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, aimed at kicking corruption out of Koboko.
Members of Koboko Municipal Mechanics SACCO thanked the Koboko RDCs office for ordering the arrest of the police officer who embezzled their money and was intimidating members of the SACCO for demanding their money.
The RDC Koboko Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka has warned all those who embezzle funds and extort money for wealth creation programs like PDM, emyooga, UWEP, YLP, GROW and SAGE that they will be arrested and prosecuted.
