Deputy RDC Lutwama Orders Arrest of Emyooga Sacco Chairman Over Missing Shs20m in Alebtong.

Alebtong–The Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) of Alebtong, Mr Mathias Lutwama, has ordered the arrest of the chairperson of Ajuri Carpenters Emyooga Sacco over alleged theft of Shs20 million meant for the Presidential Emyooga programme.
The arrest followed a meeting convened on Friday, September 18, 2026, by Mathias Lutwama and the Assistant RDC, Mr Okello Jimmy, with members of the Ajuri Carpenters Emyooga Sacco.
During the meeting, members raised several complaints against their leadership.
Members from Ojul Village in Awei Sub-county alleged that their chairman had been withdrawing money from the Sacco account for private use.
In Abunga Parish, Amugu Sub-county, members said that whenever they collected savings and share contributions, the chairperson never issued receipts and instead diverted the money for personal gain.
Meanwhile, members from Acede Trading Centre accused the chairperson of refusing to convene an annual general meeting, in addition to allegedly misappropriating all funds donated by President Museveni to the Sacco.
Mr Lutwama and Mr Okello used the meeting to sensitise members on the regulations governing the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation (Emyooga) and guided them on ensuring transparency in savings, share purchases and borrowing.
Action Taken by Deputy RDC
Following overwhelming evidence of theft, Deputy RDC Lutwama Mathias commonly known as” Balam of Alebtong District on Kisanja No sleep no corruption,led the members to open a case of theft of public funds at Alebtong Central Police Station under SD REF 08/18/09.
The chairperson, identified as Mr Erao Geoffrey, is currently in custody at Alebtong CPS as investigations continue. Other suspects are on the run, with police hunting for them.
The Deputy RDC vowed to enforce President Museveni’s guidelines and eliminate corruption in all government programmes under the NRM manifesto in Alebtong.
