Former Ngariam County MP Aspirant Dan Mulalu Rallies Residents for National Cleaning Day

Former Ngariam County MP Aspirant, Mr. Dan Mulalu, has called upon all residents of Ngariam County in Katakwi District to actively participate in the National Cleaning Day scheduled for Saturday 26th September 2026, from 7:00am to 10:00am.
In a statement issued yesterday, Mulalu said the exercise is a national call for every Ugandan to take responsibility for a cleaner and healthier environment.
“As former MP Aspirant Ngariam County, we call the community to participate. Let us come together tomorrow to clean our homes, markets, roadsides and drainage channels. A clean Ngariam is a healthy Ngariam,” Mulalu said.
He urged residents to turn up with cleaning tools including brooms, hoes, pangas (slashers), sacks and dustbins and work together with local leaders.
Mulalu noted that Ngariam County, like many other parts of Katakwi, faces challenges of poor waste disposal, bad roads and blocked drainage channels which cause flooding and disease during the rainy season. He said collective cleaning will not only improve hygiene but also restore pride and unity among the community.
“We are calling upon the youth, women, elders, boda boda riders, market vendors and all community members to join the exercise from 7:00am to 10:00am. Let us make Ngariam an example of cleanliness in Teso and in Uganda,” he added.
Residents in Ngariam county including small trading centres have welcomed the call, saying the initiative will help clean the dusty streets and markets that have accumulated litter.
The National Cleaning Day is being observed countrywide under the theme: “A Clean Ngariam – A Healthy Ngariam – A Proud Uganda.”
