Koboko hits 97% in measles-rubella vaccination drive.

KOBOKO – Koboko District has vaccinated 97 percent of its targeted 45,000 children against measles and rubella just three days into the mass immunization campaign.
The district officially launched the exercise recently, targeting children aged nine months to below five years.
Resident District Commissioner Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka appealed to parents to take their children for immunization in the remaining five days of the exercise.

“The immunization is free of charge,” Mr Hashaka said, urging parents to always immunize their children against the 14 killer diseases. He said the NRM government takes immunization seriously, and that is why it is now an NRM manifesto matter.
The LCV Chairperson, Mr Mambu Ashiraf, emphasized that immunization is a serious matter, warning that children can die if not immunized. He gave testimony of his own sister who died of measles due to lack of immunization.
Mr Mambu directed that anyone or any organization found decampaigning the exercise should be arrested.

The District Health Officer, Dr Lokwang Paul Pax, assured parents that the vaccine is safe.
The RDC thanked the NRM government for introducing free immunization against the 14 killer diseases in Uganda. He said Koboko will be the best in the whole country.
