Koboko surpasses measles-rubella immunisation target, hits 117%.

KOBOKO – Koboko District has emerged as one of the best performing districts in the country after surpassing its measles-rubella immunisation target by 17 percent.
A total of 53,688 children were immunised during the five-day campaign, against a target of 45,760 children aged nine months to 59 months. This means 7,928 more children than targeted were vaccinated.
The Resident District Commissioner, Mr Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, attributed the success to teamwork among different stakeholders.
He cited the political wing headed by the District Chairperson, Mr Mambu Ashiraf, the technical wing headed by the Chief Administrative Officer, Mr Ogwang Nicholas, and the District Health Officer, Dr Lokwang Pax, as well as the Office of the President headed by the RDC, Deputy RDC Marjan Walire and Assistant RDCs Aloro Habib and Baguma Rashid.
Mr Hashaka disclosed that all sub-counties, town councils and the municipality in the district scored above 100 percent.
Keri Town Council was the best performing with 163 percent, followed by Lobule Sub-county in second position with 135 percent.
Abuku was third with 122 percent, while Dranya Sub-county and Oraba Town Council tied in fourth position with 117 percent each.
Midia Sub-county achieved 115 percent, Ludara Sub-county 112 percent, while Southern Division had 116 percent. Northern Division was last with 104 percent, according to the district performance list.
The RDC thanked parents, especially mothers, for taking their children for immunisation against measles and rubella.
In a special way, Mr Hashaka thanked health workers for working diligently and Village Health Teams (VHTs) for effective mobilisation.
