Minister Ogwang meets Teso MPs as Kazi ni Kazi pressure group gains momentum
KAMPALA – The Regional Coordinator for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in Teso Sub-region, Mr Peter Ogwang, has met with Members of Parliament from Teso to discuss the region’s development agenda.
According to one MP who attended the meeting, Mr Ogwang, who is also Minister of State for Education and Sports in charge of Sports, had initially been reluctant to join the Kazi ni Kazi pressure group but has now embraced it.
Other issues discussed included teamwork, mobilisation for the endorsement of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as President Museveni’s successor, sensitisation of the population on government programmes, and strategies to foster unity and development in the region.
A prominent leader of the Kazi ni Kazi group told this publication that the idea was initiated by Mr Dan Mulalu, a son of Teso, among other key leaders.
In the meeting held in Kampala, the MPs resolved to set aside their individual political differences and work closely with Mr Ogwang to fast-track development and consolidate gains already achieved, including mobilisation for Gen Muhoozi.
“As leaders of Teso, it is our mandate to work with government to achieve our blueprint,” said Mr Aogon.
He noted that the Teso agenda is already documented in the Ministry of Teso Affairs and was handed over to the PLU chairman, Gen Muhoozi, during his tour of Teso in 2023.
On PLU organisation, the Regional Secretary for PLU Teso, Mr Richard Elimu, said it will be difficult to promote the PLU agenda in Teso without involving MPs because they are the direct voice of the people with a large grassroots following.
He called upon all MPs in Teso to mobilise for the ongoing nationwide endorsement programme for Gen Muhoozi, following the existing PLU structures.
Responding to the concerns, Mr Ogwang emphasised the need for teamwork, discipline and respect for structures, saying these are the core principles of PLU.
Meanwhile, Mr Dan Mulalu is said to have gained tremendous support in Teso and beyond as members embrace teamwork.
He thanked the people of Teso and urged them to be united for the common goal of fronting Gen Muhoozi for the presidency in 2031.
