LIRA, UGANDA – Stephen Mukasa, the National Coordinator for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) pressure group “Generation Seven,” has significantly intensified campaign efforts in Lira City, Lango sub-region, Northern Uganda. The group is actively mobilizing youth door-to-door to secure votes for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Mukasa’s strategic drive to consolidate youth support for President Museveni’s re-election bid officially launched at the former Akii-Bua Stadium. The event saw a strong turnout, with several young people publicly vowing unwavering support for President Museveni until the very end. This mobilization effort in the Lango sub-region is a clear indicator of the NRM’s commitment to strengthening its political base among younger voters.
“We have completed the Northern region, including the Lango, Acholi, and West Nile sub-regions,” confirmed Walter Abong, the National Coordinator of Generation Seven for the Lango headquarters. Mukasa further stated their intention to proceed to the Teso sub-region next, and then other regions across Uganda, to garner massive support for President Museveni.

Mukasa acknowledges that the energetic campaigning by groups like “Generation Seven” underscores the NRM’s reliance on its extensive party machinery and affiliated organizations to energize its base and maintain public support.
The launch event, which took place on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, brought together 75 youth representatives from each district in the Lango sub-region, alongside hundreds of NRM supporters from Lira City. Thousands gathered in a vibrant display of political fervor at the Old Akii-Bua Stadium in Lira City. The rally served as the official launchpad for a coordinated offensive aimed at galvanizing the region’s sizable youth demographic.
“Generation Seven,” a group comprising young professionals, students, and grassroots activists, is leading a multi-pronged outreach strategy. This includes traditional rallies, robust digital campaigning, and direct door-to-door engagement. Their mission, framed as “Protecting the Gains,” emphasizes the achievements under President Museveni’s leadership.
“We are here to preach the gospel of protecting the gains made under President Museveni’s leadership and to uphold his legacy,” Mukasa stated. “Our mission is to educate and mobilize the youth and the general populace to support his continued presidency for the stability and development of Uganda.”
Mr. Abong reiterated the group’s commitment to persuading voters that President Museveni’s leadership remains indispensable for sustained economic growth and national unity.
The “Generation Seven” campaign will also feature specialized youth forums and debate sessions, designed to engage young voters directly on policy matters and government performance. The aggressive activities in Lango signal the NRM’s strong intent to secure continued political dominance in the region by directly appealing to its future electorate.
Ocen Tonny, a prominent NRM member in Lira City West Division, Lira City, extended his congratulations to the Generation Seven national team for their commendable efforts.
