Alebtong Independent WMP Candidate Achen Ayoo Threatens Legal Action Over Mass Poster Vandalism.
ALEBTONG, UGANDA – November 15, 2025 – Political tensions are escalating in Alebtong District following accusations of intentional campaign poster defacement targeting candidate Achen Christine Ayoo, who has warned that she will pursue legal action against the perpetrators.
Ms. Ayoo, a key contender in the upcoming 2026 Alebtong Woman MP race, raised the alarm during a rally at Otweotoke, Akira Sub county in Alebtong district revealing that poster vandalism targeting her promotional materials had been widespread across Apala and Abiya sub-county respectively.

“On the 9th of November, 2025, I received a phone call telling me that some unknown people are defacing my posters in Awali, Abia sub-county, and Apala,” Ayoo told supporters gathered at a rally in Akura. The candidate lamented the destructive acts aimed at disrupting her campaign efforts.

Ayoo issued a stern warning to those responsible for the destruction, emphasizing that such acts violate electoral commission guidelines and integrity and would not be tolerated. “I will take legal action if those unknown people defacing my posters are caught,” she cautioned.
The announcement of the alleged vandalism sent ripples of shock through the hundreds of residents who had gathered at the Akura rally in Otwetoke village to hear Ms. Ayoo speak. Constituents expressed concern that the defacement signaled a worrying return to aggressive and illegal campaign tactics by some people.

Furthermore , Okullo Okeng, the NRM Publicity Secretary for Alebtong District, used the opportunity to publicly urge voters to vote for Independent candidate Hon Achen Christine Ayoo instead of the NRM0 flag bearer Dr. Lakica Mercy.

Okeng assured the public of his unwavering commitment to supporting the person he deems most suitable for the Alebtong Woman MP leadership, regardless of official party endorsements.
“Come rain, come sunshine, I will continue to support the right person,” Okeng stated firmly.
He criticised the NRM flag bearer, adding, “but not the flag bearer who seems to be busy in Amolatar but not Alebtong district.”

As the campaign season intensifies, Ms. Ayoo’s campaign team is reportedly gathering evidence regarding the defacement incidents, preparing to follow through on the threat of legal prosecution should the culprits be identified.
