Presidential Candidate Bobi Wine Experienced Low voters Turnout in Obongi, Moyo Campaigns.
By Admin. OBONGI UGANDA – November 26, 2025 : Presidential candidate Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known by his stage moniker Bobi Wine, and his campaign team reportedly received a significant shock on Saturday when planned rallies in the northern districts of Obongi and Moyo were largely shunned by voters, forcing the candidate to abandon formal rally structures and resort to roadside addresses.
The series of disappointing turnouts marked an unusual day on the campaign trail for the popular opposition figure, whose rallies typically draw large crowds elsewhere in the country.
The initial setback occurred in Obongi, where Kyagulanyi’s rally was scheduled for 9:00 AM at the Lionga playground in Obongi Town. Despite sustained efforts via public address systems announcing the candidate’s coming, only a handful of supporters had reportedly turned up by the scheduled time.
The unexpectedly sparse crowd compelled Kyagulanyi to cancel the morning session. His team decided to adjourn the Obongi rally until the afternoon and proceed immediately to Moyo.
Moyo Visit Yields Similar Results
The change in itinerary, however, did not improve the reception. Upon reaching Moyo, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu’s team encountered a similar situation as voters reportedly shunned the scheduled meeting.
Unable to hold a structured rally format, the candidate resorted to unconventional means of engagement. Kyagulanyi moved through trading centers using his open-roof campaign vehicle, waving and briefly talking to small clusters of people doing their own business along the roadside.
The campaign returned to Obongi Town late Saturday evening, arriving after 6:00 PM. The planned venue, Lionga playground, remained empty.
Instead of attempting a delayed rally at the deserted venue, Kyagulanyi decided to stop his motorcade directly on the main road in Obongi Town to briefly address the few people present, who were already engaged in their own evening routines.
