Tragic Road Accident Claims Two Lives, Injures Six in Dokolo District
DOKOLO UGANDA- December 8, 2025:A fatal road accident occurred late Monday night in Dokolo District, leaving two passengers dead and six others hospitalized with serious injuries. The incident involves a blue Isuzu Truck (registration number UBA 111R) carrying football players returning from a competition.
The crash took place at approximately 20:30 hours on December 7, 2025, along the Bata–Dokolo Road near Arudabiro Cell, Northern Ward, Dokolo Town Council. The vehicle, driven by 28-year-old Okori Brain Pius of Agebo B Cell, Agwata Ward in Agwata Town Council, reportedly lost control on a hilly stretch before veering off the road and overturning.
The truck transported footballers from Adwoki and Agwata communities who had participated in a match at Abako Primary School in Alebtong District. Authorities confirmed two male adults died instantly, while five other adults and a juvenile sustained critical injuries. The injured victims were rushed to Dokolo Health Center IV (HCIV) for emergency treatment.
Territorial Police officers from Dokolo, including the Officer Commanding Traffic (OC Traffic), promptly arrived at the scene to investigate and document the event. The bodies of the deceased were transferred to Dokolo HCIV Mortuary for post-mortem examinations, while the vehicle was towed to Dokolo Central Police Station (CPS) yard pending an Inspection of the Vehicle (I.O.V).
Police have detained the driver as investigations into the cause of the accident continue. A formal inquiry, including assessing driver conduct and vehicle safety, is underway. The names of the victims and further details will be disclosed once verified.
P.J. Okema, Senior Police Officer and Public Relations Officer for the North Kyoga Region, emphasized the police’s commitment to transparency. “Our priority is to establish the full circumstances of this tragedy and provide support to the affected families,” he stated.
Local leaders and community members expressed shock over the incident, highlighting concerns about road safety in hilly regions. The accident has sparked calls for improved infrastructure and stricter vehicle regulations in the district.
