President Museveni to Campaign in Kole, Lira City/Lira District on January 8, 2026.

LIRA CITY,UGANDA- January 6, 2026: President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is set to campaign in Kole District and Lira City on Thursday, January 8, 2026, as part of his nationwide political outreach ahead of the 2026 General Elections. The campaign rally will take place at two major venues: Aculbanya in Kole District and the Golf Course in Lira City, where residents from Lira City and Lira District are expected to converge to welcome the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential flagbearer.

The event was officially confirmed by Rt. Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, the NRM National Vice Chairperson for Northern Region / Government Chief Whip( GCW), who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Ajuri County in Alebtong district. In a statement issued on Monday evening, Obua revealed that President Museveni will address supporters across the remaining areas of Kole District, Lira District, and Lira City during the day-long political campaigns.

“His Excellency Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be on the ground at 8:00 AM on January 8th, starting in Aculbanya, Kole District, before proceeding to the Golf Course in Lira City. These events are meant to engage the people of Kole, Lira City and Lira District reaffirming the government’s commitment to inclusive development and wealth creation,” Obua stated.
The campaign rally is part of the NRM’s intensified mobilization efforts across Uganda. President Museveni is expected to highlight his a achievements in, wealth creation infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agricultural transformation, particularly in the post-conflict regions of Acholi and West Nile.Preparations for the visit are reportedly in full swing. According to Lillian Anyati, the NRM Chairperson for Kole District, mobilization of party supporters are progressing rapidly.

“All is now set in Kole District. We have mobilized NRM flag bearers, party cadres, local leaders, and the general public to ensure a massive turnout. This is a historic opportunity for our people in Kole District to directly listen to H.E the president ,” Anyati said.
In Lira City and Lira District, officials report of similar readiness, with local authorities coordinating with the organising commettee is at a high gear.The campaign rally in Lira City at Golf Course is expected to draw thousands from across the region, including political leaders, civil servants, youth groups, and women’s group—all rallying under the NRM party.

President Museveni’s visit comes at a crucial time as the 2026 election campaign heats up in Lira City .
On Friday, January 9, 2026, the President is scheduled to continue his campaign tour in other parts of West Nile for a meeting with NRM leaders.
Residents are being urged to attend the rallies in large numbers, with organizers emphasizing peace, patriotism, and active civic participation.
