Aletiru Scovia popularly known as “Mama Museveni” declared NRM flag bearer for Obongi Women Council Chairperson

OBONGI, UGANDA: The Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission in Obongi District, Mr. Drale Bitoga Gregory, has declared Hon. Scovia Aletiru alias Mama Museveni as the NRM flag bearer for the District Women Council Chairperson.
Mr. Bitoga declared Aletiru unopposed after her only challenger, Ms. Mandela Immaculate, the Women Council Chairperson of Palorinya Sub-county, failed to get anyone to second her.
The NRM flag bearer elections took place on Friday at the NRM offices in Obongi Town.
Mr. Bitoga congratulated Mama Museveni upon being declared unopposed as the NRM candidate and blessed her ahead of the national Electoral Commission-organised elections.
During the same exercise, other women leaders were also declared unopposed. Ms. Zaituna Saidi was declared unopposed as the Obongi District Women Council NRM flag bearer for Vice Chairperson, Ms. Tumukunde Cissy Muraa as flag bearer for Publicity, while Ms. Ndaru Alice was declared unopposed as Secretary for Finance.
Speaking after being declared unopposed, Mama Museveni Scovia Aletiru thanked the women of Obongi for voting for her unopposed from village, parish and town council levels.
She promised to ensure that the NRM party becomes stronger in Obongi and that women’s rights are respected.
