Two UPC aspirants declare intensions for LC1 seats in Lira City west Division ahead of July 28, 2026 polls.

LIRA CITY – Two Uganda People’s Congress [UPC] candidates have entered the race for Local Council One chairperson in Lira City West Division, with campaigns focusing on transparency, inclusion and service delivery ahead of the July 28, 2026 elections.[LC1]
Anai Agali Cell:
Abaa George says he will run for LC1 chairperson of Anai Agali Cell on a platform of transparency and equitable distribution of government programmes.

“I will work with all elected leaders at all levels and ensure everyone in my ward benefits from government programmes without segregation,” Abaa said during consultations with youth, elders, men and women in the area. Residents, he added, have started calling him “trusted man of the people”.
Amoki Moses, a resident of Anai Agali, endorsed Abaa’s bid saying he is the right candidate for the job.
Obutuwelo ‘B’ Cell:
In Obutuwelo B Cell, Aluku Moses Omara has also declared for the LC1 seat. He is campaigning on transparency and peaceful co-existence among the different tribes in the cell.

Omara said he will prioritise the welfare of children living on the streets by working to return them to school and reunite them with their parents through city council authorities. He also promised to treat all nine members of the LC1 executive committee equally if elected chairperson.
Both candidates are running on the UPC ticket.
According to the Electoral Commission [EC] roadmap, voting for LC is set for July 28, 2026.
The LC1 is the lowest elected local government council, handling community administration, security of the cells or villages, and mobilisation at village/cell level.
UPC’s Abaa George and Aluku Moses Omara have declared for LC1 seats in Lira City West ahead of the July 28, 2026 polls. Abaa is seeking Anai Agali Cell on a pledge of transparency and equal access to programmes. Omara Aluku is running in Obutuwelo ‘B’, Cell promising inclusion of all oters in government programs and support for street children peacefully.
