MP ALENYO DECLARES BID FOR DEPUTY SPEAKER RACE AT KYANKWANZI RETREAT.

KYANKWANZI: The race for the leadership of the 12th Parliament has gained early momentum as Hon. Marshall Alenyo, the MP-elect for Jonam County, officially declared his bid for the Deputy Speaker’s seat.
Alenyo made the bold announcement during the ongoing NRM retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi, drawing significant attention from fellow legislators.
A first-term lawmaker and legal professional, Alenyo is banking on his legal expertise and strong regional influence in West Nile to sway his colleagues. His declaration was met with a chorus of approval from several NRM MPs-elect, who described his move as both ambitious and inspiring.
“We congratulate Hon. Marshall Alenyo on this bold step. We are excited to see his vision and leadership skills at play, and we look forward to a competitive election,” a section of the legislators remarked at the retreat.
Political analysts view Alenyo’s early entry into the race as a strategic move to leverage his ties with key political figures and secure regional backing.
In his response to the warm reception, Hon. Alenyo expressed gratitude to his colleagues for their support, promising to steer a Parliament that prioritizes legislative excellence and national unity.
The election for the Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be one of the first major assignments for the 12th Parliament upon its inauguration.
