APAC, UGANDA— Monday, April 6, 2026: A wave of shock has gripped Apac District after a gang of approximately 15 unidentified assailants, armed with pangas and knives, launched a brutal night-time attack on students of Apac Seed Secondary School.
The violent encounter, which occurred on Easter Sunday at approximately 10:00 PM, left seven students with harrowing injuries. Three of the victims are reportedly in critical condition with deep cuts to the head, neck, and ribs.
According to SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, the trouble began when a suspicious individual was spotted lurking near the girls’ dormitory.
“Male students responded to establish the identity of the intruder, who fled by jumping over the school fence,” SP Okema stated. “In a brave attempt to apprehend him, one student pursued the suspect but was lured into an ambush where a group of thugs hacked him severely.”
As the victim raised an alarm, six of his colleagues rushed to his rescue, only to be confronted by a larger, more organized gang. In the ensuing confrontation, all seven students were wounded as they fought off the attackers.
Officers from Apac Central Police Station rushed to the scene following the distress call. Six of the students were evacuated to Apac Main Hospital, where they are currently undergoing emergency treatment.
On Monday morning, a joint security team, including the Canine (K9) unit, revisited the school premises. Police sources indicate that the victims believe they can identify some of the attackers, providing a crucial lead for the ongoing investigation.
