Ambassador Extra Ordinary Paul Amoru Secures 650 Electric Bus Orders, Attracts more Investors.

Uganda’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Ambassador Paul Amoru Omiat, has made a historic breakthrough in economic diplomacy, attracting over 650 purchase orders for Uganda’s homegrown electric buses.
The ambassador, currently in Uganda on a strategic mission, revealed that the massive interest follows the highly successful “ Trans-Africa E-mobility Exhibition” held in December 2025. During the expedition, Uganda’s Kayoola E-Coach traversed over 13,000 kilometres across Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa, reaching as far as Cape Town to showcase the durability of Ugandan engineering.
“The entire continent is now talking about the innovation happening in Uganda. We are revolutionizing clean energy,” Ambassador Amoru stated. He confirmed that the expedition successfully secured commitments for 650 buses, with a significant deal already inked in South Africa.
Eswatini delegation are hivhlt expected very soon in Uganda.
In a move to further expand trade links, a high-level delegation from Eswatini, blessed and sent by the King, is expected in Uganda shortly to assess the production facility and place their own orders.
Ambassador Amoru emphasized that his primary role is to attract investment and create wealth to propel Uganda toward middle-income status. He lauded President Yoweri Museveni for his “brilliant vision” in supporting Kiira Motors Corporation and fostering socio-economic transformation through science and technology.
The Kayoola buses, manufactured at the Kiira Vehicle Plant, are part of a broader government strategy to manufacture 30,000 buses for the regional market by 2030, retaining capital within the local economy and creating thousands of industrial jobs.
