By Okidi Patrick
Atine Solomon is a Ugandan student and a Senior Six candidate at St. Gracious Secondary School (SAGRASS) in Lira City. He gained national recognition in April 2026 after being selected to represent Uganda at the International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad in Moscow, Russia.

Early Life and Education
Atine is the son of Ogwal Tonny Brian. He attended St. Gracious Secondary School, an institution noted for its focus on scientific innovation and holistic education under the direction of Dr. Patrick Olet. The school has established a reputation for academic excellence in Northern Uganda, consistently producing top performers in the sciences since 2020.
International Competitions

Atine was officially flagged off for the Moscow competition (scheduled for April 15–23, 2026) by Dr. Andrew Odur, Director of Lira Regional Referral Hospital. This selection followed the school’s successful track record in global science competitions; in 2025, SAGRASS students represented Uganda at the 59th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad in Brazil, where the team ranked second in Africa, after South Africa.
