APAC, UGANDA: Maruzi County MP, Hon. Peter Obong Acuda, has donated a new Shs80 million ambulance to ease transportation of patients and the dead in Maruzi Constituency, Apac District.
The fully equipped ambulance, which includes emergency lights and other facilities, was unveiled this week and is the second such donation by the MP.

“Referral delays will be history”
According to MP Acuda, the ambulance will address one of the biggest challenges facing rural communities: timely medical transportation.
“The issue of referral delay and other emergencies shall be history, including helping our rural people who might not afford immediate transport needed for referrals, plus other preventable deaths due to minor illnesses,” Mr. Acuda said.
He said the donation is also in fulfillment of his campaign manifesto, after realizing the gaps in the health services sector in Maruzi.

The MP explained that the vehicle was bought using personal funds, including savings from his campaign budget.
“My priority is to ensure that no family struggles to transport a sick person or a body because they cannot afford it,” he added.
Constituents hail gesture
Residents welcomed the donation, saying it will ease the burden of funeral arrangements and emergency response in the constituency.
“It’s the first of its kind for an MP to donate funeral ambulances in Apac and this has created a lot of trust in MP Acuda,” said Ms. Dorine Akello, 50, a resident of Ibuje Sub-county.
“Communities want him to go unopposed in 2031.”

Beyond health
Hon. Acuda said limited access to medical transport has been a major challenge in areas like Akokoro and other hard-to-reach parts of Maruzi.
Meanwhile the MP pledged to focus on improving education standards and supporting economic empowerment initiatives.
“I will serve everyone in Maruzi, whether you voted for me or not. What matters now is working together for the betterment of our constituency,” he said, calling for unity and an end to political divisions in Apac District and Lango Sub- region.
