The space of the August House are set for a rare family spectacle on, Wednesday, May 13, as the Engola household prepares for a historic double swearing-in ceremony.
The spotlight will first fall on Hon. Betty Awor Engola, the Woman MP-elect for Apac District, who is scheduled to take her oath of allegiance at 11:00 AM.

Hon Awor, known for her grassroots mobilization in Apac, is expected to be accompanied by a jubilant delegation of supporters from the Lango sub-region.
The family’s political footprint will expand further in the afternoon when veteran politician Hon. Sam Engola makes his grand return to Parliament. The former Minister and senior presidential advisor in-charge Lango Zone, is slated to take the oath at 2:30 PM, marking a significant comeback to the national political arena.
The dual ceremony is seen by many in Lango as a consolidation of the Engola legacy on bri ging new defelopment and changes in Erute South county, continuing the political journey of a family that has remained a pillar of the NRM party in Northern Uganda.
To celebrate the milestone, the family has organized a high-profile victory dinner at “Silver Springs Hotel” in Bugolobi later on Wednesday evening. The event is expected to draw top government officials, NRM bigwigs, and other leaders from Lango.

The swearing-in of the 12th Parliament enters its first day tommorrow 13th, May 2026, with over 100 legislators expected to be processed as the house prepares for the critical vote for Speaker and Deputy Speaker later
