Leaders vowed to push “Acholi Agenda” in partnership with MPs.

KITGUM, UGANDA : Hon. Alfred Akena, the Chairperson of Pader District, has been elected as the new Chairperson of all District Chairpersons in the Acholi Sub-region.
The election was held during a joint meeting of all Acholi district leaders at Bomah Hotel, in Kitgum Municipality Kitgum District. All districts in the Acholi sub-region were represented.

“We will work for the Acholi Agenda”
Addressing the press outside Bomah Hotel Kitgum after the meeting, Pader LCV Akena Alfred promised to provide united leadership and to work closely with the Acholi Parliamentary Group to push the region’s development priorities.
“We have resolved to work for the Acholi Agenda in partnership with the Acholi parliamentary group,” Akena said.
He was flanked by fellow district leaders during the address.

The new forum of district chairpersons is expected to coordinate on key issues affecting Acholi including peace, service delivery, land, and post-conflict recovery programs.
Leaders at the meeting agreed to speak with one voice on regional matters and to lobby central government together through their MPs.

Pader District Chairperson Hon. Alfred Akena has been elected to lead all District Chairpersons in Acholi. He pledged to work for the “Acholi Agenda” with the Acholi Parliamentary Group.
