RDC Hasaka mourns Gen. Moses Ali: “Uganda has lost a great man”

OBONGI, UGANDA: Obongi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Samuel Mpimbaza Hasaka, has eulogized the late First Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business, Gen. Dr. Moses Ali, describing him as a mentor and a patriot who inspired generations of Ugandans.
In a condolence message from the Office of the President Obongi, on Saturday, 18th July at 4:50pm, Mr. Hasaka said he received a telephone call from Nakasero Hospital confirming Gen. Ali’s death.
“I thought it was a rumour. I called one of the children of the late and his personal assistant who confirmed that indeed he had died,” Mr. Hasaka said.

The RDC recounted knowing the late when he was a young boy at East Kololo Primary School, during Gen. Ali’s time as a minister under President Idi Amin.
“He inspired us to concentrate on our studies as future leaders of Uganda,” he said.
Mr. Hasaka added that he later interfaced with Gen. Ali several times in the 1990s when he was working as a journalist.
In 2023, when Mr. Hasaka was transferred to serve in Obongi in the Madi sub-region, Gen. Ali was among the first leaders to congratulate and welcome him.
“Whenever I would meet the late in his convoy, he would stop and greet me, encouraging me for the good work,” the RDC said.
The Second Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. Moses Ali (,RIP), in August 2024 thanked the RDC of Obongi, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, for the great work he is doing in Obongi District and for his diligence in serving the country.
Gen. Moses Ali met Obongi RDC Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka at the Gulf Hotel in Nebbi town in 2024 August where they discussed many developmental issues on that day.
In their short engazement on that day, Gen. Moses Ali encouraged Hashaka to continue his diligent service to the country.
RDC Hashaka commended the late Gen. Moses Ali for his great achievements in the NRM government and West Nile as a whole.The burial of veteran politician and former First Deputy Prime Minister General Moses Ali has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 22, 2026, according to a tentative programme shared by former minister Captain Mike Mukula.
