KAMPALA , UGANDA— The Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces have released the shortlist of successful applicants for the 2026 General Recruitment Exercise.
In a statement posted on Monday, UPDF Spokesperson Col. Chris Magezi said the date for the commencement of the physical recruitment — the Third Phase of the exercise — will be communicated in due course.
“This is therefore to alert all relevant stakeholders to DISREGARD the earlier suggested date of Monday, 20 July 2026,” Col. Magezi said.
According to a press release issued by the Department of Defence Public Information on 7th July 2026, the lists are available on the official UPDF website www.updf.go.ug and at all City and District Headquarters.
The UPDF extended appreciation to all Ugandans who applied and urged those who were not shortlisted to continue preparing for future opportunities.
Shortlisted candidates have been advised to prepare the required documents ahead of Phase Three. These include:
- Handwritten application bearing recommendations from LCI, II, III and GISO/DISO
- Original National Identity Card/NIN
- Original and copies of academic documents. Graduate documents must be certified
- Three (3) coloured passport-size photographs
Applicants have been encouraged to check their names and confirm their status at the designated centres.
