PM Robinnah Nabbanja, Denis Hamson Obua Lt.Gen Otema Awany, joined thousands at Engola’s thanksgiving ceremony in Lira District.

LIRA, UGANDA–Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, NRM National Vice Chairperson, Northern, Mr. Denis Hamson Obua, Lt Gen Charles Otema Awany, on Saturday 18th, 2026 joined thousands of people at Olilo Primary School in Erute South, Lira District, for a thanksgiving service hosted by the Minister for Disaster Preparedness, Relief and Refugees,Hon. Sam Engola.


Hundreds of people from Erute South Constituency , Lango Sub-region and beyond, turned up for a colourful thanksgiving prayers held on 18th July 2026.
The service was led by Rev. James Okaka of the Church of Uganda. He preached from Psalm 75:6-7 on promotion, and praised Mr. Engola for his “good heart.”
Over 20 bishops and heads of different denominations attended, including Bishop Tom Ibrahim Okello of All Nations Church, and representatives from the Catholic and other churches.




Thanksgiving for appointment
Mr. Engola said the thanksgiving was for his appointment as minister. He testified that he will pray more and serve all people, including those who did not vote for him.
He also appealed to the Prime Minister for support to build a church at St. Mary’s in Adekokwok.
“His clan is important. He will work for everybody,” he said.

Key dignitaries at the event included Won Nyaci of Lango, Dr. Eng. Moses Michael Odongo Okune; Minister of Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Lt. Gen. Charkes Otema Awany, Minister Hilary Onek,Minister of State for Economic Monitoring, Hon Santa Alum; Erute South MP Hon. Julius Acon; Lira District Woman MP Linda Agnes Auma; and Maruzi MP Hon. Bernard Odoch Otim, Mayor Atul Sam, LCV Okello Orik RCM among others.
The prayers were conducted at Olilo Primary School playground.
