Omara Joe Makim warns public against fake PLU lists, illegal fees.

AMOLATAR – The Secretary of the Patriotic League of Uganda [PLU] for Lango Sub-Region, Omara Joe Makim, has warned members of the public against fraudulent lists and individuals collecting money in the name of the organization.
In a statement issued on Friday, Makim said his attention had been drawn to lists circulating on WhatsApp across Lango purporting to name PLU district and sub-county coordinators.
He said he had also received credible reports that some people are soliciting money from PLU supporters with promises that payment will guarantee their names on the lists.
“I wish to categorically state that these lists are unauthorized and should not be relied upon. No individual has been mandated to collect money on behalf of PLU for appointments or inclusion in any leadership structure,” Makim said.
He reminded PLU members and supporters that the Patriotic League of Uganda is a non-partisan civic organization whose mandate is to promote patriotism, fight corruption and advance responsible citizenship.
“PLU does not sell positions and does not require payment for anyone to become part of its structures,” he added.
Makim noted that as communicated earlier by the PLU General Secretary, Hon. Fadil, official structures will be constituted from district to village level, with each executive committee comprising eight members.
He said an official registration form will be issued and details of all qualified executives will be captured in the official PLU database through established procedures.
The Lango PLU Secretary further said the Chairperson of PLU, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, has engaged relevant security agencies to investigate and apprehend individuals impersonating PLU officials, circulating unauthorized lists, or collecting money fraudulently.
Makim urged the public to disregard unofficial lists, avoid paying money to unauthorized persons, and report any suspicious activities to authorities or recognized PLU offices.
“Together, let us safeguard the integrity of PLU and remain committed to serving Uganda with patriotism, honesty, and discipline,” he said.
