Obongi residents joined leaders to launch National Cleaning Day.

OBONGI, UGANDA–Hundreds of residents of Obongi District on Saturday joined the Office of the Resident District Commissioner and the District Health Office for the launch of the National Cleaning Exercise in the district.
The exercise was led by Obongi Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, Deputy RDC Paul Abaho, Assistant RDCs Robert Obina Komakech and Habiba Furaha Umuhoza, and Assistant District Health Officer Dominic Lomerechu.
The leaders and residents started by cleaning Obongi Town before proceeding to Obongi Landing Site for the official launch.
The Uganda Police Force, led by the Officer in Charge of Traffic, and the UPDF Commander in Obongi also participated.
While launching the exercise, Mr Hashaka thanked residents for the massive turnout. He also appreciated taxi drivers, boda boda cyclists and passengers for joining the activity.
Residents, led by the district leaders, chanted patriotic songs thanking the NRM government for introducing the monthly cleaning exercise.
The National Cleaning Days are held on the last Saturday of every month across the country, following the national launch by President Yoweri Museveni. The campaign seeks to promote sanitation, public health and environmental management.
