MP Nyeko Johnson Kezekiya leads Lamwo in National Cleaning Day.

LAMWO, UGANDA–Lamwo County Member of Parliament Hon. Johnson Nyeko Kezekiya on Saturday, 25th July 2026 led hundreds of residents to launch the National Cleaning Exercise in Lamwo District.
The MP, who picked up litter alongside wanainchi in Lamwo Town, commended residents for the massive turnout.
“I want to thank the people of Lamwo for coming out in large numbers. This shows love for our community and patriotism,” Mr Nyeko said.
He also appreciated taxi drivers, boda boda cyclists and passengers who joined the exercise before the official launch.

The Uganda Police Force participated in the activity alongside the MP and residents.
Residents in Lamwo chanted slogans during the exercise, expressing gratitude to the NRM government for introducing the monthly cleaning initiative.

The National Cleaning Days are held on the last Saturday of every month across Uganda, following the national launch by President Yoweri Museveni. The campaign is aimed at promoting sanitation, preventing disease outbreaks and ensuring a clean environment.
District leaders said the exercise will be sustained with support from local leaders, security agencies and service providers.
