Alebtong RDC Okiswa Geoffrey Represents Minister Akello Beatrice at MP Elem Leo’s thanksgiving Ceremony.

ALEBTONG, UGANDA–Residents of Alebtong trooped out in their thousands on Saturday, July 25, 2026 for a thanksgiving ceremony of Hon. Elem Leo, the Member of Parliament for Moroto County, Alebtong District.

The event was graced by Alebtong RDC Okiswa Geoffrey, who represented the Minister for Northern Uganda, Hon. Beatrice Akello Akori.
In a message read on the Minister’s behalf by RDC Okiswa Geoffrey, Minister Akori Beatrice congratulated Hon. MP Elem on his victory and reminded him that “party differences notwithstanding, he is now MP for all the people of Moroto County and Alebtong District.”
The Minister urged residents of Alebtong and the wider Northern Uganda region to embrace government poverty alleviation programs in the current term.
“There is to be no more sleep and laziness. We must fight poverty through NUSAF4, PDM, EMYOOGA and cattle restocking programs,” the message read.
She cautioned beneficiaries against diverting the Shs5 million per household under PDM, saying the money should be used to buy 2 bulls and 3 heifers as stipulated in the guidelines.
The Minister also contributed Shs500,000 towards the thanksgiving ceremony.
Mr Okiswa further assured residents of peace and security “before, during and after any elections and thanked president Museveni for the prevailing peace,” and reiterated the government’s call for socio-economic transformation in the region.
The ceremony attracted several leaders and diginitaries including Hon. Sam Engola and Hon. Santa Alum Ogwang, MPs from Lango sub-region, members of the clergy, local leaders and thousands of voters.
In his remarks, Hon. Elem Leo thanked voters for the overwhelming support rendered to him during the recent election and pledged to work with all stakeholders to deliver services.
The thanksgiving ended with prayers, cultural performances and fundraising towards community projects in Moroto County.
