Lamwo MP Nyeko Johnson Kezekiya presses gov’t on health, education gaps in Lamwo.

PARLIAMENT- Kampala: Lamwo County MP, Hon. Nyeko Johnson Kezekiya, on Tuesday used the Parliamentary plenary to raise serious concerns over the poor state of health and education infrastructure in Lamwo District.
In a strong submission, Hon. Nyeko told the House that residents continue to suffer due to dilapidated health facilities and inadequate schools, which he said are undermining service delivery in the border district.
Health and education in crisis:
Hon MP Kezekiya highlighted on th00e floor of parliament during plenary that many health centres in Lamwo lack basic equipment, drugs, and staffing, forcing patients to travel long distances to access treatment.
He also raised alarm over the state of schools, noting that several lack classrooms, desks, and qualified teachers, a situation he said is affecting learning outcomes.
“Our people in Lamwo are struggling with poor health facilities and schools that cannot meet the current demand. Government must act urgently to address these gaps,” Hon. Nyeko told Parliament.
Call for urgent intervention:
Hon. Nyeko urged the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education and Sports to prioritize Lamwo in the next budget cycle and fast-track the rehabilitation and construction of facilities.
He emphasized that improving infrastructure in the health and education sectors is key to lifting livelihoods and securing the future of young people in the district.
Lawmakers who contributed to the debate backed the MP’s submission, calling for increased funding to underserved districts like Lamwo.
