Obongi: NRM flag bearer Aletiru nominated unopposed, pledges to fight for women’s rights.

OBONGI: Ms Aletiru Scovia, alias Mama Museveni, who was declared the NRM flag bearer for Obongi District, has been nominated by the Electoral Commission at its offices in Obongi.
By 5pm, no challenger had shown up to contest against her.
During last week’s NRM town council women council flag bearer elections, the only challenger to Aletiru from Palorinya Sub-county failed to secure a nominator.
Aletiru thanked the women of Obongi for entrusting her with the position and pledged to fight for women’s rights in the district.
She said she will ensure that what is due to women is given to them under government programmes including PDM, UWEP, YLP, Emyooga, GROW, SAGE and other government-funded initiatives.
Meanwhile, the women council sub-county chairpersons of Gimara, Aliba and Itula sub-counties were also nominated unopposed for the district women council executive committee on the NRM ticket.
The district women council elections will be held this Friday, to be conducted by the Electoral Commission.
