Acholi MPs Get 220 Laptop Computers for sellected Rural Secondary Schools.

OMORO, UGANDA – Members of Parliament from Acholi have received 220 laptop computers to distribute to selected rural secondary schools in their respective districts.
The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, in partnership with NITA-Uganda, delivered the 220 Acer laptops as part of government’s move to strengthen digital learning and expand access to technology in education.
The donation was lobbied for by Omoro County MP, Hon. Andrew Ojok Oulanyah, who also chairs the Parliamentary Committee on ICT, and Acholi MPs through the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Hon. Yorke Alioni Odria.
The laptops were handed over on August 29, 2026, during MP Andrew Ojok’s thanksgiving prayer and birthday celebration held in Opit SS in Omoro District
Speaking at the handover, minister Odria said the donation was part of a broader effort to equip learners with practical digital skills, enhance teaching and research, and connect institutions to global knowledge platforms and opportunities so they can participate in the digital economy and not be left behind in the digital age.
Dr Hatwib Mugasa, the Executive Director of NITA-Uganda, handed over the laptop to each of the MPs representing the 8 districts and one city in Acholi sub-region.
How the 220 Computers were Distributed in Acholi districts
Omoro District received 60 computers: 40 were given to Hon. Andrew Ojok Oulanyah and 20 were received by Woman MP Hon. Catherine Lamwaka.
Gulu District received 20 laptop computers, which were handed over to WMP Hon. Phoebe Ayoo.
Gulu City received 20 computers, received by Hon. Ojara Martin Mapenduzi.
Pader District also got 20 computers, delivered in absentia to Woman MP Hon. Lowila C.D Oketayot.
Agago received 20 computers, received by Hon. Ricky Anywar.
Lamwo District received 20 computers, received by Woman MP Hon. Nancy Achora.
Amuru got 20 computers, which were handed over to Hon. Gilbert Olanya.
Kitgum received 20 computers, received by Hon. Adum.
Nwoya District received 20 computers, received by Hon. Lanyero Awany.
Hon Anywar Ricky Richard the MP for Agago West Constituency recieved 20 laptop computers for Agago District.
He requested NRM Northern Vice Chairperson Hon. Denis Obua Hamson to help voice the issue of Moroto road since it is a direct road linking Moroto -Kotido- Abim-Agago Omoro- and Gulu City to a number of development.
Beatrice Akello Akori, the State Minister for Northern Uganda who represented the Speaker of Parliament, said the 12th Parliament entrusted Ojok with chairing the ICT Committee because that was his area of professionalism.

Minister Beatrice Akori added that the position had given Ojok an opportunity to lobby for resources so that students in rural schools could access digital skills.
Denis Hamson Obua, the National Resistance Movement National Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, applauded voters in Omoro for voting Ojok back into Parliament. He said Ojok was one of the best MPs in Parliament, just like his late father Jacob Oulanyah Okori.
The chairperson of Acholi parliamentary Group Hon Lamwaka catherine who doubles as Omoro WMP commended the voters of Omoro District for voting Hon Andrew Ojok Olanya for another term.She added that Pmoro has elected leaders wjo who are very vibrant and hardworking. She pledged to follow up with fellow MPs the issues affecting Acholi Sub-region including Moroto road and other related government programs.
