Beb Wine Company, based in Lira City in Northern Uganda, has been named Uganda’s best alcoholic fermented beverage brand at the 2026 People’s Quality Choice Awards.
It is the third consecutive year the company has won the award, which is decided by a consumer vote.
The award is based on an annual survey conducted by 10 GSI Ltd, which assesses public opinion on products and services.
Sam Brunos Aliga, a prominent and popular radio personality in Lango and Northern Uganda, who chaired the awards committee, said consumers chose Beb Wine for its quality, taste and freshness.
The company’s general manager, Jimmy Alex Okello, said the award will be formally presented at a ceremony at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala on 17 November 2026.
Speaking at an event at the A-Z Hotel in Lira on Friday, the firm’s sales and marketing manager, Biron Otimkica, said the company accounts for about 80% of the wine market in northern Uganda.
He said its products are certified by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS).
Mr Otimkica said the company is aiming for double-digit growth in sales and production and plans to expand into other parts of Uganda and the wider East African region. The company says its products are already sold in South Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya and Tanzania.
Ben Boniface Olanya, representing the mayor of Lira City West Division, said the company employs more than 500 permanent and casual workers and was tax compliant. He urged the firm to consider building another factory in Lira City West.
However for booking and bulk buying, Beb Wine’s factory is located at Bar-Onger Go-down in the industrial area of Lira City East Division in Lira City. Up to now it is the giant producer of the best taste in the land. It produces several fermented beverages and operates more than 10 branches across Uganda including Apac.
