Dokolo DRDC Ismail Masaba Urges Ugandans to Embrace ETHICS and INTEGRITY for National Transformation.

In a strong call for moral uprightness, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC) of Dokolo, Mr. Ismail Masaba, has underscored the critical role of ethics and integrity in building a trustworthy and prosperous society.
According to Mr. Masaba, ethics are the external rules and moral standards that guide human behavior, while integrity is the internal commitment to follow those standards even when no one is watching.
Understanding the Key Differences
Mr. Masaba explains the distinction as follows:
• Ethics (External): These are the shared rules, codes of conduct, or laws set by a group, a profession, or an organization to regulate behaviour.
• Integrity (Internal): This is personal honesty, strong moral principles, and consistency between what you say and what you do.
• Application: While ethics provide the framework, integrity ensures that an individual lives by that framework in daily life.
Why Ethics and Integrity Matter.
The Deputy RDC noted that a society anchored on these two values stands to benefit immensely.
1. Builds Trust: People, institutions and government thrive when citizens rely on honest and accountable behavior.
2. Fosters Culture: Fair and ethical leadership creates positive, safe and productive environments at work and in communities.
3. Drives Success: Consistent ethical choices lead to long-term personal and organizational credibility, which is essential for development.
Mr. Masaba called upon leaders, civil servants and the youth to uphold integrity in all spheres, saying it is the foundation for fighting corruption and achieving Uganda’s development agenda.
“Let us live what we preach. Integrity is doing the right thing even when it is difficult,” he said.
