Napak – The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Napak District, Mr. Abia Robert Owili, has maintained that government policy prohibiting extra charges in government-aided schools still stands.
Mr. Robert Abia Owilli while adressing the media yesterday said for the past week, he has been receiving several resolutions made by headteachers after he advised them that according to a circular from the Ministry of Local Government, no extra charge is allowed in government-aided schools.
He emphasized that no child should be sent home by any headteacher or classroom teacher over school fees.

“In a related development, even if parents agree with the school to pay something, it must not be an extraordinary charge,” he said.
Mr. Abia noted that he will still forward the resolutions of school administrators and parents to the Ministry of Local Government for approval.
“No one should be found chasing any child from the classroom, examination room or levying any punishment on any child because of school fees. Any school found chasing children will face consequences,” Mr. Abia warned.
