ALEBTONG – The Resident District Commissioner for Alebtong, Mr Geoffrey Okiswa, on Thursday met and inducted newly elected Parish Development Model (PDM) SACCO leaders at Hope Lives Primary School.
During the meeting, speaker after speaker called upon the leaders to ensure that the PDM programme transforms the lives and livelihoods of the communities they lead.
Officials from Pearl Bank urged all SACCO leaders to open WENDI accounts with immediate effect to ease disbursement and tracking of funds.

Officiating at the closing ceremony, Mr Okiswa urged the leaders to uphold integrity and dedication in managing PDM funds.
He outlined three key calls:
1. Fight corruption tendencies in the PDM SACCOs before other authorities get involved.
2. Embrace patriotism, discipline and good character, saying character counts in leadership.
3. Intensify mobilisation and sensitisation of beneficiaries on proper investment of revolving funds and its recovery, rather than waiting for police enforcement.
Mr Okiswa said the leaders had pledged to work hard to ensure PDM succeeds, rather than waiting for enforcement from police, the RDC’s office or Minister Balaam.
In attendance were the LCV Chairperson, Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) officers, the District Commercial Officer (DCO) and officials from Pearl Bank.
The meeting also noted that:
- Each of the 69 PDM parish SACCOs has a balance of Shs50 million yet to be disbursed.
- Beneficiaries’ phone numbers are being lost after being sold to other users due to inactivity.
- Political interference continues to hamper implementation.
Mr Okiswa said his office will continue monitoring the programme to ensure the funds benefit the intended households.
